Kenyan found living illegally in India for 26 years; arrested by Mumbai police
MUMBAI: A Kenyan national living illegally in India for the past 26 years was arrested by the Vakola Police. Osino Omandi, 61, was living in a chawl at Nehru Road in Santacruz East.
Vakola Police's Anti-Terrorism Cell received specific information about a foreign national living in the chawl for several years. The police made inquiries with him and found that his visa had expired in 2000. He was living in India illegally without required documentation. Police found a Kenyan passport on him.
Vakola Police have informed the Foreigners' Regional Registration Office (FRRO) and Special Branch (SB) II of the Mumbai Police for initiating the process of deporting him.
The action was taken under supervision of senior inspector Prakash Khandekar and DCP Nimit Goyal.
