MUMBAI: The civic-run KEM Hospital in Parel is reeling under a shortage of blood.
Vinod Kumar, a Bihar resident whose wife is undergoing treatment at the hospital since December, said she requires transfusion once in 4-5 days due to a blood disorder. This week it has been harrowing to arrange blood for his 34-year-old wife, Rani Kumari. “I was asked to check with a few banks.
I finally purchased two units of A+ blood from JJ Mahanagar blood bank at a cost of Rs 1,000,” he said.
Sources from other civic blood banks said they got requests for blood from KEM. The shortage is mainly in A, B and O positive groups. tnn
