Jewellery, digicam worth Rs 11L forgotten in Mumbai local returned to owner
Mumbai: A bag left behind in a local train by a commuter containing gold jewellery and a camera collectively worth Rs 11 lakh was retrieved and returned to him by the Govt Railway Police (GRP) recently.
Constable Kherade from the Andheri GRP chowky was on night duty when he was informed from the control room around 11.45pm on May 24, about an abandoned bag found in a local train. The train was to arrive shortly at Andheri railway station. Kherande attended the Churchgate-bound train and found the white leather bag in a first-class coach. He brought the bag to the Andheri GRP chowky and informed the control room that it had been retrieved. The bag contained 7 tolas of gold jewellery worth Rs 10.5 lakh and a digital camera worth Rs 45,000.
The GRP found out that the owner of the bag was a commuter named Karan Shah. They got in touch with him over phone and summoned him to the Andheri GRP chowky. After verifying his identity and ascertaining that he was the rightful owner, the bag was returned to him with all valuables intact.
