Jethmalani advises voters to get a lawyer

MUMBAI: BJP���s Mahesh Jethmalani (Mumbai North-Central constituency), was the only candidate to attend the ���Meet the Candidate��� meeting organised on Saturday by the Sahar Citizens Forum at Sahar village, Andheri East . The meeting was marked by the absence of rival candidate Priya Dutt and the other ten independents who are contesting from the constituency.The Christian community in the neighbourhood���that is believed to be more than four centuries old���has been fighting the acquisition of its lands for the expansion of the Mumbai airport.
���Read my lips: I believe in the justice of your cause. I will oppose the acquisition of private land for the Mumbai airport expansion plans,������ said Jethmalani, who said that the government had no need to acquire privately owned land for the expansion.
When a resident asked if he would still support them if he was not elected, Jethmalani assured them that if the government did not withdraw the acquisition notice, he would take the issue to court.
