MUMBAI: The infant who was set on fire along with his mother and cousin at their
Mira Road home by his father on December 31 succumbed to his burn injuries.
The accused Bahadursingh Parmar (34) had poured petrol on his second wife Tanya (26), son Jaidev (13 months) and Tanya's niece Shakila (20) at their Hubtown Gardenia flat in Mira Road on December 31.
While Shakila died on the spot, Tanya passed away in the hospital a day later.
Jaidev was being treated for severe burns at a private hospital in Malad died on Thursday.
Parmar, who stays in Khar with his wife and two children fled after committing the crime. He was later arrested from Mount Abu in Rajasthan.
Parmar told the police that he was against Tanya, a bar girl working. But Tanya had insisted on working to support her family. Her nice Shakila used to stay with her to take care of Jaidev. Parmar used to visit the house. He and Tanya had reportedly wed two years ago. Parmar's first wife was not aware of her husband's relationship with Tanya.
On December 31, Parmar had a fight with Tanya. He poured petrol on Tanya, Shakila and Jaidev. Before they could escape to safety, he threw a matchstick on them. Even as the three were on fire, Parmar managed to flee. The building watchman saw smoke coming from the flat and alerted the building residents. The three had sustained serious burn injuries. Shakila was declared dead before admission to the hospital. Tanya died a day later. Jaidev was battling for life till Thursday when he succumbed to the injuries.
Meanwhile, Parmar's police custody has been extended till January 11. The car in which he had fled to Rajasthan has been seized by the Mira Road police.
