Mumbai: Terming Vinesh Phogat’s disqualification from the 50 kg gold medal bout in the Paris Olympics on grounds of being overweight “unfortunate and unfair,” legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar on Wednesday urged India to protest “very, very strongly” against the decision.In a shocking turn of events, Vinesh was disqualified from taking part in the final of the 50kg women’s gold medal match for being overweight by 100 grams.“I do hope that the authorities will take notice of it. Take a strong response to this because this is not just the initial round. This should not be taken lying down — whether it’s the IOA or the GOI,” Gavaskar said on the sidelines of the Spartan racing event at the Mumbai Cricket Association's facility in BKC here.
