Elgar case: 9 activists moved to Mumbai jails

Pune: The nine activists arrested in the

Elgar Parishad

case were shifted to Arthur Road and Byculla

jails

in Mumbai on Wednesday from the Yerawada central prison, days after Pune police handed over the investigation to the National Investigation Agency.

The prisons department shifted seven activists— Surendra Gadling, Rona Wilson, Sudhir Dhawale, P Varavara Rao, Vernon Gonsalves, Arun Ferreira and Mahesh Raut—to Arthur Road jail for undertrial prisoners. Sudha Bharadwaj and Shoma Sen are in Byculla women’s jail. Special UAPA court, Pune, had passed an order to produce them before NIA court in Mumbai on February 28.tnn
