MUMBAI: Suburban train services were disrupted for almost 45 minutes due to signal failure at Goregaon on Western Railway (WR) on Wednesday morning.

WR tweeted, "Due to technical glitch in signalling at Goregaon at 7.05am, train movement was affected. It has been restored at 07.50am. Trains will be delayed for some time due to this. Inconvenience is deeply regretted."

Even though the signal was restored, trains were running late by almost 30 to 45 minutes.

Due to delays, there was huge overcrowding at all the major stations as the incident happened at the onset of morning peak hour.

Many commuters took to social media to slam WR.

Twitter user @peeahmed tweeted "All the local trains (Western line, central Line and Harbour line) are running late by more than 30 minutes. No announcement, no information."

Another user with handle @Ravikhatrim tweeted, "With stock market Traffic is also volatile in Mumbai today...
