Cyclone Tauktae live updates: Weakened cyclone moves north, Delhi-NCR braces for rain

The landfall process of the eye of extremely severe cyclonic storm Tauktae, which hit the Gujarat coast in Saurashtra region between Diu and Una, ended around midnight, the India Meteorological Department said on Tuesday. State officials said there are no reports of any casualty due to the tropical storm 'Tauktae' (pronounced as Tau'Te), adding it has weakened. The IMD also announced that the cyclone has weakened into a 'very severe cyclonic storm' from the 'extremely severe cyclonic storm'. Stay with TOI for latest updates.

Over 55 flights cancelled at Mumbai airport due to Tauktae cyclone

More than 55 flights, both incoming and outbound, were cancelled at the city's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) on Monday after the private airport operator was forced to suspend all air services at 11 am due to cyclone 'Tauktae'. (PTI)

Cyclone Tauktae: At 9.30pm, the extremely severe cyclonic storm Tauktae lay centered at north-east Arabian Sea, 35 km east-southeast of Diu. Current intensity is 160-170 kmph near the centre. Landfall process has begun with forward sector of eye entering into the land. It would take about three hours to complete the landfall, mentioned IMD bulletin.

Indian Navy deploys 3 warships to rescue over 400 people onboard 2 barges adrift off Mumbai

The Indian Navy on Monday deployed three of its frontline warships to rescue over 400 people onboard two barges off the Mumbai coast as cyclone Tauktae roared up the western coast. Navy officials said 38 people out of 137 onboard 'GAL Constructor' were rescued under extreme weather conditions and very rough seas. (PTI)

Major Gujarat airports shut due to cyclone Tauktae

Barring the Rajkot airport, which will remain shut for flights till May 19, other three major airports - Ahmedabad, Surat and Vadodara - will remain closed for both domestic and international flights till Tuesday, officials said. (PTI)
