Congress president polls: Party delegates to vote in Maharashtra

MUMBAI: Voting for Congress presidential elections will take place on Monday with veteran leader Mallikarjun Kharge and senior party leader Shashi Tharoor locked in a straight contest.

There are a total of 561 state delegates, while 236 delegates are from Mumbai, who are eligible for voting. State delegates will vote at Tilak Bhavan, while Mumbai delegates will vote at MRCC office. Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has set up three booths each at Tilak Bhavan and MRCC office.

AICC election in-charge for Maharashtra Mallam Raju is here to oversee the arrangements for the polling process. All voters have been given an ID card with a bar code. Voters will have to show one more identity proof such Aadhaar or PAN card or driving licence. “Ballot boxes and AICC observers are already in Mumbai. Counting will take place in Delhi on October 19,” a senior MPCC office-bearer said.
