MUMBAI: A 13-year-old boy was found dead with his neck entangled in the ropes holding a swing in his Ghatkopar flat on Thursday evening. Police have registered a case of accidental death and ruled out foul play.
Meet Jain was playing with his sister Sneha, 10, in their first-floor flat at Arihant Apartment in Ghatkopar (West) around 7pm when his mother, Asha, asked him to study for his ongoing examinations.

Asha then went into the kitchen.
"Meet's mother said she came out of the kitchen after 7.30pm as she didn't hear him for some time. Asha saw her daughter in the hall, but Meet was not there. To check on him, she entered the bedroom and found him entangled in the swing rope," said inspector Rajkumar Kothmire.
Asha immediately called her husband Mahendra, who runs a jewellery shop in Bhatwadi and was out on work. They rushed Meet to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead on admission.
Meet was alone in the bedroom and was probably playing on the swing when he got stuck. "It's possible that as he tried to loosen the rope, Meet got further entangled in the nylon string and could not scream for help," explained Ghatkopar police senior inspector Rajaram Vhanmane.
Neighbours said Meet, a Class VIII student, was an active boy who was good in his studies.
His family, busy on Friday with the cremation, was in shock and not in a position to talk. The police are also yet to record the Jains' statement.
