Mumbai: Ahead of the spate of local body polls expected this year, a section of state government employees can look forward to a salary hike. The state cabinet has approved the Bakshi committee report which recommended a correction in the anomalies in the wage hikes implemented in the 7th pay commission report. The wage hike is expected to cost the state Rs 240 crore.
The state government had set up the three-member committee in 2017 for the implementation of the 7th pay commission report. The Bakshi committee received 3,739 requests for its consideration.
The state government accepted its first report in 2019. Its second report was ready in February 2021. This report has now been accepted by the government. The hike will be effective from January 1, 2016.
The committee has reviewed the sixth and seventh pay commission reports jointly and addressed the differences in its report.
