CA from Navi Mumbai booked for 'molesting' young woman while travelling along Atal Setu in Cityflo passenger bus
Navi Mumbai: A 45-year-old chartered accountant from Kharghar was booked by Ulwe police for allegedly molesting a 20-year-old woman, who is also from Kharghar, while travelling in the Cityflo passenger bus along the Atal Setu from Navi Mumbai towards Mumbai on Friday between 9.30 am and 10 am.
The victim woman lodged a complaint at Sewri police station, Mumbai, after she reached her destination. She alleged that on Friday morning, she was travelling in the Cityflo passenger bus from Navi Mumbai towards Mumbai. When the bus was plying along Atal Setu, a man repeatedly touched her inappropriately, which offended her and she confronted him. As the incident occurred when the bus reached about 300 metres after crossing the toll plaza near Shivaji Nagar in Ulwe node, the zero case was transferred to Ulwe police station in the afternoon, informed PSI Rama Dhavare of Ulwe police station.
PSI Dhavare said, "Subsequently, an FIR was registered against the accused CA, who was booked under relevant section of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for the offence of assault or use of criminal force against a woman with the intent to outrage her modesty. As the BNS section invoked against the accused attracts punishment for less than seven years if found guilty in the court, as per the provision of the law, he was not arrested but served with a notice under Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) directing him to co-operate in police investigation whenever summoned for inquiry at the police station and remain present for court hearing."
