BMC election results 2026: Ex-Sena corporator’s widow Tejasvee wins Dahisar East on BJP ticket; vows to focus on development

MUMBAI: Amid chants of ‘Tejasvee Ghosalkar aage badho, hum tumhare saath hai' from her supporters in the BJP, the 38-year-old former corporator was declared a winner from Ward 2 comprising parts of Dahisar East.

Ghosalkar, who had moved from Shiv Sena (UBT) to the BJP just a month before the elections, fought a tough battle against Sena (UBT) candidate Dhanashree Kolge and won by a wide margin of 10,755 votes.



Speaking to TOI on the sidelines of the polls on Jan 15, Ghosalkar had said the entire Thackeray family including Uddhav, Rashmi, Aditya, Raj and Amit had campaigned in Dahisar before the polls, making it a contest to watch out for. "My late husband, Abhishek, guided me when I worked as a corporator in Ward 1. This was my first election without him by my side. But it was his dream that I continue in politics."

On Friday, after her win, she said she gave the credit to her entire team including former corporator Jagdish Ojha for standing by her side throughout the campaign. "I will now work for development issues for Ward 2," she said.

Asked whether she has the support of the Ghosalkar family (father-in-law Vinod and brother-in-law Saurabh are still with Sena UBT), she said she will always have the family's blessings irrespective of their political leanings.

Ghosalkar received 16,484 votes while Kolge got 5,729 from Ward 2.
