Betting racket: Film producer to be quizzed
MUMBAI: The crime branch, probing the international cricket betting racket, has summoned producer Nitin Manmohan for financing the Hindi film Gali Gali Chor Hai (GGCH). Sources said Manmohan has been asked to be present before the crime branch on Saturday at 11.30pm. He will be questioned about the financing of GGCH. Manmohan is the co producer of the film, which, cops believe is financed by funds earned through cricket betting. “We want Manmohan and its producer Prakash Chandanani to explain to us about the finances as the main accused Deven Kothari has spilt beans on them. Some bookies may have financed the movie,’’ said a crime branch officer.Meanwhile, the six accused, including main bookies Sonu Jalan and Devendra Kothari, were sent to judicial custody on Friday. Cops are looking a dozen bookies, including NRIs—Sunil Abhichandani alias Dubai and Prakash Chandanani. While Sunil handles the Dubai operations, Chandanani was a link between bookies and actors.
