MUMBAI: Taking note of comments made by commuters in "Times Special" report in the Sunday edition of TOI, BEST general manager Lokesh Chandra decided to introduce two new bus routes — one from Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) to Gundavali Metro station in Andheri East and another from Mira Road to Dahisar East Metro station in next few days.
Chandra said, "The report mentioned commuters finding it convenient to travel by Metro and therefore they took autos from BKC and from Mira Road to the Metro stations. But autos are expensive and in comparison, our AC bus fare is Rs 6 for 5km. We, therefore, plan to introduce buses on these routes to provide connectivity to office-goers and residents to the two Metro stations”.
Sources said that while the new bus service from Mira Road to Dahisar Metro may be introduced from Friday, the bus service from BKC to Gundavli Metro station could start from next Monday.
At present, BEST already runs 10 feeder routes from Metro stations on Lines 2A and 7.
