MUMBAI: The much-anticipated ''fair trial'' of the controversial Best Bakery case will begin in the presence of additional sessions judge Abhay Thipsay on Monday, June 7.
Fourteen people from the minority community were burnt alive in a communal carnage near the Best bakery in Vadodara during the Gujarat riots in 2002.
The Supreme Court had transferred the case from Gujarat to Maharashtra for a fair trail following several witnesses turning hostile and appeals made by key witness Zaheera Sheikh, who is being threatened for life.

The 21 accused, who were earlier acquitted by the Gujarat High Court will be traced and retried in the sessions court.
However, the court is yet to appointment the public prosecutor for the case. The apex court in its directives has asked the judge to complete the trial by the year end.
All relevant papers and evidence material regarding the Best bakery case are in custody of the sessions court registrar.
