Baba Siddique murder: No bail for accused

Mumbai: A special court rejected the bail plea of Bhagwan Om Singh, an accused in the 2024 murder of NCP leader Baba Siddiqui. Singh allegedly provided the firearms used in the murder.The Judge ruled that there was sufficient prima facie evidence to link Singh to a conspiracy involving an organised crime syndicate allegedly headed by Anmol Bishnoi.The court noted that the gravity of the offence and the nature of the evidence collected during the investigation prevented the fulfilment of the statutory requirements for bail under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act.The prosecution's case relied on digital evidence and confessional statements. Investigations revealed that Singh was in constant communication with another accused, Dharmaraj Kashyap, with records showing 186 calls exchanged between them.Location data placed both individuals in Rajasthan on July 6 and 7, 2024, where Singh allegedly provided the firearms used in the assassination.
