MUMBAI: An autorickshaw, carrying three BPO employees, fell into the Dahisar river early on Thursday after the driver took a sudden left turn. Neither the driver nor the passengers suffered any major injuries.
The three passengers--Siddharth Chinharkar, Sajjan Francis and Susan D'Souza--were headed home in Mira Road. "The three asked the driver, Deepak Tiwari, to take a left turn.

But it was raining heavily and visibility was low; the headlight of the autorickshaw was not strong either. When the driver took a sudden left turn, the auto swerved into the river,'' an official from the MHB police station said.
The locals informed the patrolling policemen about the incident. The police, with the help of locals, rescued the three BPO employees and the auto driver. The auto was later removed, with the help of a crane, by the police.
"The auto driver has been booked for negligent and rash driving. Traces of alcohol were also found in his blood. He is in police custody,'' said senior inspector K Gaikwad.
