MUMBAI: Air India (AI) call centre received a hijack threat call on Friday.
The caller claimed to be a Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) member and threatened that an “Air India flight will be hijacked on November 28”.
The call has put CISF personnel on high alert as it comes in the wake of Paris attacks and at a time when security concerns have gripped the global airline industry.
“The caller identified himself as a member of the ISI (Pakistan’s intelligence service) and said hijackers will take control of a plane on November 28,” said an AI spokesperson. “All precautionary measures have been put in place,” the official said, adding that the standard operating procedure, put in place for such threats, has been followed. The airline also filed a case at the Shrinagar police station in Thane, where the airline call centre is located.
