After Kasab hanging, Mumbai on high alert

Soon after convicted terrorist, Ajmal Kasab, was hanged in a Pune prison, the state police issued an alert to all the police stations, especially those in Mumbai and Pune, and security agencies asking them to be on high alert.

MUMBAI: Soon after convicted terrorist, Ajmal Kasab, was hanged in a Pune prison, the state police issued an alert to all the police stations, especially those in Mumbai and Pune, and security agencies asking them to be on high alert. Kasab was hanged to death in Yerwada jail at around 7.30 am on Wednesday. "We have issued an alert to all the police agencies in the state asking them to beef up security near vital installations, consulates, jails etc. There has been blasts in Pune on August 1, 2012 in retaliation to an Indian Mujahideen (IM) operative's murder. IM operative, Qateel Siddiqui, was murdered by two inmates in the Yerwada jail in June," said a police source. In Mumbai, nakabandis were increased and gun wielding policemen were posted at several important junctions and roads. Police also began combing operations in lodges and hotels and was checking the details about visitors.
