Mumbai: BJP MLA from Kandivli (E) Atul Bhatkalkar demanded that the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) open the Aarey Metro station (Line 7) access bridge on Western Express Highway within the next 15-20 days. He also threatened to raise the issue in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly during the monsoon session if the bridge is not opened soon.
MMRDA officials said they are awaiting an NOC from the fire department, and assured it would be obtained soon.
Bhatkalkar, who visited the site with MMRDA officials on Thursday, pointed out the bridge has been ready for quite some time. He also raised the issue of no escalator being constructed on the east side of the Metro station. At present, commuters use the foot overbridge (FOB) constructed by MSRDC to cross the Western Express Highway, climb down the FOB, cross the road and then get onto the escalator on the west to enter the Metro station.
