Mumbai: A 49-year-old woman lost her life after she was hit by a motorcycle while she was walking down the road at Kandivli West.
Rashmi Chalke lived with her husband and daughter in Mahavir Nagar and worked as an accountant with a Kandivli-based firm for the past three decades. She either took an auto to her workplace or walked down.
On April 14, Rashmi spoke to her husband over phone and said she would return home by 8 pm from work. However, the family was later informed by two people that Rashmi had been injured in a road crash. When Rashmi's husband dialled her phone number, a woman answered and said that Rashmi had been taken to Babasaheb Ambedkar Hospital.
Rashmi's husband rushed to the hospital where he learnt that doctors had pronounced her dead. After making inquiries with a group of people gathered at the hospital, he learnt that Rashmi was crossing the road when a speeding motorcyclist hit her. The motorcyclist, Gaurav Patil, also suffered injuries in the crash and is undergoing treatment.
Police have registered an FIR against Patil.
