MUMBAI: The Trombay police on Monday arrested four female
Shiv Sena members in connection with the assault on head constable Vikas Thorbole during a Maharashtra Navnirman Sena-Shiv Sena clash at Maharashtra Nagar in Mankhurd on April 24. With this, the number of arrests in the case has gone up to seven.
Those arrested on Monday were Suvarna Sawant, Ujwala Bhandwalkar, Banobai Kondwalkar and Sangeeta Tatme.
“We arrested two of them outside the session’s court on Monday before they could file an anticipatory bail application. The other two approached court but their applications were rejected, following which they too were arrested. The accused were part of the mob,” said Vijay Kadam, senior inspector, Trombay police, adding, “All will be produced in court on Tuesday. We are looking out for the other accused who are on the run.”
