18-month-old Mumbai boy falls into drain, feared drowned

An 18-month-old boy fell into a storm water drain at Ambedkar Chowk in Malad (East) on Wednesday night. Firemen have been searching for him since last 10 hours.

MUMBAI: An 18-month-old boy fell into a storm water drain at Ambedkar Chowk in Malad (East) on Wednesday night. The boy is feared to be drowned.
The boy, identified as Divyansh Singh, lived with his family near Ambedkar Chowk on Goregaon-Mulund Link Road. Around 9.44pm on Wednesday, he fell into a stormwater drain while playing.
The storm water drain in which the boy fell is situated near his slum house.

Firemen stated that they started their search operation as soon as they were informed about the incident. His distraught family and neighbours gathered around as the authorities searched for him, but in vain.
"We deployed fire engines, ambulances as well as BMC ward staff," said a BMC officer.
Search operation is still on.
