Villagers attack bulldozer during demolition drive
Moradabad: The police arrested five people for allegedly obstructing government officials from performing their duties in Rampur on Friday. The incident took place when a court official, Amit Kumar, along with his team, went to demolish an illegal wall that stood adjacent to the Shiv Temple in Bans Nagli village. After the demotion drive, the angry villagers started pelting stones at them. Court officials suffered injuries in the attack and the bulldozer was also damaged by the villagers.
Sanjay Kumar, the station house officer, Bhot police station, said, “An illegal wall was built beside the Shiva temple in Bans Nagli village. Few years ago, a local resident named Daulat Ram had filed a petition in the civil court against unlawful construction. Following which, the court had ordered to remove the encroachment. After the officials razed the wall, some miscreants attacked the team, hurled stones at them and damaged the bulldozer.”
According to Assistant superintendent of police Sansar Singh, “A probe has been ordered. An FIR was registered based on the injured court official’s complaint. Subsequently, five people, identified as Naresh Kumar, Dori Lal, Nek Chand, Sundar Lal and Data Ram, have been taken into custody.”
