Meerut: In the wake of triple murder during a birthday party in Bulandshahr’s Khurja area, SSP Dinesh Kumar Singh has suspended four police personnel, including the station house officer (SHO), Prem Chand Sharma, for alleged negligence and laxity in handling the case.
The incident, which occurred during a birthday celebration inside a gym, saw a minor dispute over smearing cake escalate into a shooting that left three members of a family dead.
According to officials, an FIR was registered against 11 accused, including 10 named persons. While three accused have been arrested so far, the failure to promptly nab the remaining suspects led to disciplinary action.
“SHO of Khurja Nagar, along with a chowki in-charge Preetam Singh and two constables, Shameem Ahmed and Pasar Yadav, were suspended with immediate effect for poor supervision, weak intelligence gathering and lack of awareness about local activities,” said Singh.
Police said multiple teams have been deployed to track down the absconding accused. A reward of Rs 25,000 each has been declared on the arrest of the eight remaining accused including the main accused, Jitendra Saini, who are still at large.
“Preliminary investigation reveals that Jitendra was celebrating his birthday and had invited a group of people to a pottery unit in the evening, where they ate and drank together. During this time, Amardeep learned that he had not been invited,” the SSP added.
“Subsequently, he organised a separate cake-cutting event at a gym. When Jitendra came to know about this, he perceived it as a challenge to his ego. The matter escalated when Amardeep smeared cake on Jitendra’s face who opened fire inside the gym killing Amardeep, his brother and nephew,” the SSP said.
