Muzaffarnagar
: An alleged contract killer, Imran Ahmad was injured in an encounter around 11 pm and arrested on Saturday in Muzaffarnagar’s Budhana area, even as two others managed to give cops the slip. According to police sources, three contract killers had allegedly been hired by one Gulzar to kill a local businessman, Azhar Ahmed but cops busted the
plot
in time. A constable, Jeet Kumar, was also injured in the shootout.
After receiving a tip-off,
Budhana police
laid a trap at Jola village for the killers. When police tried to stop three suspects on a bike, they opened fire, forcing the cops to retaliate. While Ahmad was injured, two others, Kallu and Rajeev, fled the spot. Both the injured were rushed to a hospital.
Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Muzaffarnagar Sudhir Kumar said, “A man named Gulzar had hired three contract killers to kill Azhar for Rs 2 lakh, but it was averted by Budhana police. Apart from Ahmad, Gulzar also has been arrested and we are looking for the two absconding criminals. Ahmad was sent to jail after being produced before the magistrate and a further investigation is on in the matter.”
In a similar incident on December 11 in Ramraj area, three culprits who were allegedly on their way to rob someone were arrested before they could commit the crime.
