AAP Meerut functionaries seek FIR against government medical college officials
MEERUT: The relatives of a 56-year-old woman, Indra Devi, undergoing treatment in a govt medical college, alleged she had been put on four empty oxygen cylinders constantly, despite her condition deteriorating, which led to her demise.
The incident occurred at Lala Lajpat Rai Memorial (LLRM) Medical College on Wednesday. On Saturday, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) functionaries in the city staged a protest.

They demanded an FIR against medical staff and doctors under IPC section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder).
Ankush Chaudhary, national council member of AAP and district president, told TOI, “The LLRM Medical College has its oxygen plant, but there were empty cylinders in the emergency room. It has raised doubts about the management of LLRM.”
Arvind Kumar, LLRM spokesperson, told TOI, “The incident is unfortunate, and after the intervention of district administration, a committee of two senior resident doctors has been set up to investigate it. They will give a confidential report to the principal, following which action will be taken.”
Ankush added, “We gave an ultimatum that if action is not taken within a week, we will take the matter to the authorities.”
Devi had been admitted to the LLRM emergency ward with a breathing problem. Amid treatment, medical staff tried to shift her from the emergency to general ward without consulting the doctor concerned. In transit, she felt breathless, and ward boys allegedly put her on an empty oxygen cylinder, leading to her demise.
