9-yr-old girl raped by neighbour in Bijnor, 6th case in 8 days
Bijnor: A nine-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour in Bijnor on Friday. Her mother approached police and got an FIR registered. In the past eight days, this is a sixth case of rape of a minor in Bijnor district. Two rape cases, including one of a minor, were also registered in neighbouring Amroha district during the same period.
According to the child’s mother, the girl was raped when she went to her neighbour’s house to get some clothes. The accused’s mother is a tailor by profession.
The woman claimed, “I had sent my daughter with some clothes for the accused, Gulzaar’s mother to sew. When she reached there, Gulzaar (22) was at home alone as his mother had gone out. My daughter asked for some clothes sent earlier. He took her inside and raped her. When my daughter fell unconscious, he fled. After hours, my daughter regained consciousness and returned home, Then she narrated her ordeal to me. I have filed a complaint against Gulzaar at Dhampur police station.”
Police have booked the accused under IPC section 376 (rape) and provisions of the POCSO Act. He is at large.
According to circle officer of Dhampur, Mahaveer Singh, “Police have registered a case against the accused and he will be arrested soon.”
Meanwhile, two rape cases were reported in Amroha. In first case, Bittu, 25, allegedly raped a minor girl when she was alone in her house in Mandi Dhanaura area. When family members returned home, she told them what had happened. A case was registered against him but he is on the run.
In the second case, one Firoz Khan of Hakampur crossing area under Didoli allegedly raped a pregnant woman on June 12 and threatened her with dire consequences if she told anyone about the incident. The woman approached the cops and a case was registered against the accused. The woman alleged that when she resisted him, he kicked on her abdomen, resulting in a miscarriage. According to SHO, Didoli, Devendra Kumar, “Police have registered a case. The accused will be arrested soon. Probe is on in this connection.”
There has been a rise in rape cases over the last few days. Last week, six rape cases were lodged in different police station areas in Bijnor. In most of the cases, minors were targeted by rapists. Most of the accused were found to be neighbours, known to the victim.
