5 candidates fracture leg, 3 fall ill during UP police physical test in Bareilly
Meerut: At least five candidates sustained leg fractures and three others fell ill during the ongoing UP Police recruitment examination at the PAC ground in Bareilly, police said. The injuries occurred during the physical endurance test over the past three days, with six cases reported in a single day on Wednesday.
SP (traffic) Akmal Khan said, "Candidates who had practiced adequately did not suffer injuries, while those with insufficient training experienced health issues. All injured candidates were rushed to the hospital and are receiving treatment."
Among the injured is 25-year-old Ram Lakhan from Badaun, who collapsed during the 12th round of the 5-km race. Similarly, Vishesh Kumar, 22, fell in the 9th round, while 27-year-old Murari Lal sustained an injury in the 11th round.
Experts have attributed these incidents to sedentary lifestyles, poor nutrition, and inadequate physical preparation, as many aspirants begin intensive training only weeks before the test, police said.
Other injured candidates include Vipin Kumar (27) from Bareilly, Harendra Singh (27) from Shikohabad, and Pankaj Kumar (24) from Firozabad, all of whom sustained fractures after collapsing mid-run.
