The Tennessee Titans hold the coveted No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, and the biggest question looming over them is whether they’ll use it to secure a franchise quarterback or take a different route. While speculation runs wild, one player believes the answer is clear: Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter thinks he’s the best player available and should be the first name called on draft night.“I feel like it’s very realistic,” Carter said. “I feel like I’m the best player in the country, and the best player should be drafted No. 1.”If that happens, Carter would make history as the first non-quarterback to go No. 1 overall since 2022, when the Jacksonville Jaguars selected Georgia defensive lineman Travon Walker. Also Read: Howie Roseman calls Saquon Barkley’s Season the best skill position in NFL history

Carter’s goal to become the No. 1 pick

For Carter, going first overall isn’t just a possibility, it’s a goal he set long before the season began.
“It’s very important for me,” Carter emphasized. “That’s one of the goals I made before the season. It’s something I’ve always talked about. It’s what I’ve worked for. I feel like I’m getting close to that. I’ve just got to keep working, keep putting the effort in and I’m going to accomplish my dream.” (via: Pro Football Talk)However, teams won’t get a chance to see him perform at the Scouting Combine. Carter, who suffered a shoulder injury during the Fiesta Bowl, will only take part in medical evaluations and interviews this week. Despite this setback, he remains confident in his recovery and readiness to impress at his Pro Day.“This next month is really where I start getting close to 100 percent,” he said, noting that his shoulder is currently about 90 percent healed.Regardless of where he lands, Carter will be in attendance for draft night in Green Bay, ready to live out the moment he’s worked his entire life for.“It’s really just me living out my dreams, being able to walk on that stage. I can’t wait,” he said. With the draft approaching, all eyes will be on the Titans as they weigh their options. Will they take a quarterback, or will Abdul Carter prove too good to pass up?
