BIJNOR: A 10-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 21-year-old youth on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday when she went to attend a marriage function with her family in Bijnor’s Dhampur city. The girl has been sent to district hospital for medical examination and police have booked the accused under section 376 (rape) and stringent POSCO Act.
The accused, Shubham Kumar, fled after allegedly committing the crime and is still on the run.
Soon after raping her, the youth left the girl on a lonely stretch behind the banquet hall. An FIR was registered in this matter on Sunday morning after the matter came to light. According to complaint filed by victim’s family, there was a marriage function in a village close to Dhampur city. The girl, along with her family members, had come to attend the function on Saturday night.
A youth, Shubham Kumar, picked up the girl and took her behind the banquet hall and raped her. When family members of the girl found her missing from the function venue, they started searching for her. When they reached behind the hall, they heard the cries of the girl from a sugarcane field.
After seeing the family members of the girl, the accused fled away from the scene.
Family members of the girl called police and filed a case against the accused. However, he is at large and police are on the hunt to nab him.

Rajesh Chauhan, said, “The incident occurred on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday. Police have filed a case based on the complaint of the girl’s family member. The girl was sent to district hospital for medical examination. Police are trying to nab the culprit. ”
