Study centre will celebrate 30th anniv

Mangaluru: Rani Abbakka Tulu Study Centre and Tulu Baduku Museum will organise a seminar, and release a book titled ‘Arivu Yaana Malike,’ to mark the 30th year of the centre, at Sanchayagiri on BC Road on February 23.Rani Abbakka Tulu Study Centre president Dr Tukaram Poojary told reporters on Wednesday that the seminar will have a session on ‘Tuluva history: an overview.’ Dr Malathi Murthy, retired professor of MGM College will deliver a special lecture on “Ancient history of Dakshina Kannada” and historian Dr P N Narasimha Murthy will speak on “Allupas- one of the oldest rulers of coastal Karnataka.”A session with experts on ‘conservation of monuments and challenges’ will be chaired by retired history professor Dr Pundikai Ganapayya Bhat and M Kuldeep Chowta of Moodbidri Palace and Niren Jain INTACH, Mangaluru co-convener will participate in the session. A book on the Alupa rulers who ruled Tulu Nadu for a long period and on the achievement and introduction of Ganapathi Rao Aigala will be released on the occasion. The seminar will be inaugurated by Hemavathi V Heggade. Historian PN Narasimha Murthy and educator Prof Shankar Bhat will be felicitated on the occasion.At the Tulu Baduku museum, there are artefacts that narrate the story of Tulu Nadu. Entry to the museum is free on February 22.
