Pvt bus fares hiked

Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada Bus Owners Association has announced an increase in bus fares starting June 13. According to a release from the association, the decision has been taken in the backdrop of rising diesel prices and maintenance costs.It stated that the bus owners are under financial distress and have expressed the need for revision in bus fares. The ticket fares will be increased by Re 1 for fares ranging between Rs 12 to Rs 20, and by Rs 2 for fares above Rs 20. The cess on fares have been hiked in accordance with provisions in the rate notification of the govt, the release added. However, the association clarified that Chalo Student Card will continue to be distributed to students at a 60% discount rate. Previously, the fares were revised in July 2021.
