MANGALURU: Veteran Congress leader
B Janardhana Poojary
warned that the party will lose the Nanjangud byelections if chief minister
Siddaramaiah does not change his style of functioning.
Poojary suggested that Siddaramaiah listen to all senior party leaders and build party base in the constituency for the election. He said that
V Srinivasa Prasad
will win the election with the support of
BJP and JD(S) if he contests as an independent candidate. Chalk out a political strategy and hold a rath yatra, if required, to ensure the victory of the candidate to be fielded against Srinivasa Prasad, was Poojary's advise.
Poojary blamed Siddaramaiah for not listening to senior party leaders including him. "Can't he (Siddaramaiah) seek suggestions of senior leaders in the party? Can't he seek suggestions from me? Elections will be held in Siddaramaiah's own home district and a defeat will render powerless. JD(S) leader
Deve Gowda has already extended his party's support to Prasad if the former Congress leader contests the election as an independent candidate. Prasad will win if opposition parties unite against the Congress candidate," Poojary said.
