Mangaluru: The Bethany Educational Society will hold hold the closing celebration of the Platinum Jubilee on Monday. Established on September 4, 1948, under the visionary leadership and patronage of Servant of God Raymond Francis Camillus Mascarenhas, and guided by its first president, Mother Petra BS, alongside the first council of management, BES has played a vital role in shaping education and social progress in Mangaluru and beyond.

The culminating event of the Platinum Jubilee celebration of BES will commence with a thanksgiving mass, presided over by Most Rev Peter Paul Saldanha, bishop of diocese of Mangalore. It will be followed by a cultural programme. Most Rev Peter Machado, archbishop of the archdiocese of Bangalore, will be chief guest.

Mangaluru's Cordel Church celebrates 150th anniversary
The Holy Cross Church in Mangaluru, also known as Cordel Church, is preparing to celebrate its 150th anniversary. The church will hold a Thanksgiving mass on September 14 and September 17 to commemorate this milestone. The church was established on September 14, 1873, by Fr Alexander Dubois, who was affectionately known as Frad Swamy. The church previously celebrated its centenary in 1973 and its post-centenary silver jubilee in 1998.
Mangaluru IT park under PPP mode gets government nod
The government has given approval to set up an IT park in Derebail, Mangaluru. The project will be implemented under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, on more than three acres of land. A request for proposal (RFP) will be prepared within two months. The government is also considering extending the PPP term from 30 years to 60 years. Additionally, the Directorate of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) will study and finalize the proposed zonal regulations for the city's Master Plan. New tenders will also be floated for the development of shops on Kadri Park Road.
