One more day of custody for terror suspect
MANGALORE: Shabeer Bhatkal alias Shabeer Moulvi, a terror suspect brought by Dakshina Kannada police from Yerawada Jail in Pune, will spend one more day in judicial custody. The judgement has been reserved for Wednesday at 11 am.
The judicial magistrate first class third court judge Bringesh on Tuesday reserved the judgement which meant that Shabeer had to return to judicial custody for another day. Police are seeking his custody to interrogate him.
Local police following a trail of terror links had nabbed six persons at Mukkacherri near Ullal and in Pandeshwar area of the city in October last. They subsequently arrested two more accused in Koppa in Chikmagalur. However, kingpins of the Indian Mujahideen network including Riyaz Bhatkal, Iqbal Bhatkal and Shabeer had given police the slip on that occasion. Shabeer's interrogation is expected to help police work on local leads.
