Old woman killed, three injured in bee attack

MANGALURU: A

senior citizen

was killed and three others sustained injuries in a

bee attack

in Someshwar near here, on Thursday. Police said the deceased has been identified as Kamala, 65, a resident of Ulaibettu, while Sridhar 50, his wife Leelavati, 44, and Janaki, 70, were seriously injured and are being treated at a private hospital in Deralakatte.

The victim had come to her son-in-law Sridhar’s house in

Laxmigudde

, two days ago. The incident took place when Sridhar’s mother Janaki left for the nearby woods to collect firewood, and Kamala accompanied her. While they were looking for firewood, a

swarm of bees

attacked Kamala. On hearing her screams, Janaki rushed to her rescue, but she too was stung by the bees. Kamala was rushed to a nearby private hospital but died after she failed to respond to the treatment.
