Mobile seized from inmate during surprise inspection at Mangaluru prison
Mangaluru: A keypad mobile phone was seized from an inmate during a surprise inspection conducted by prison authorities at the District Prison in Kodialbail, and legal action was initiated against the prisoner for possession of a prohibited item.According to the complaint filed by Sharanabasappa, superintendent of District Prison, the incident occurred on Feb 23. The superintendent, along with officers and staff, carried out a surprise inspection inside the prison premises, including Room No 5 in the ‘B' Block. During the search, officials examined the folded bedding of inmate Chandrahass Poojary alias Chandra, son of Narayana Poojary. A black Nokia keypad mobile phone with a battery was found concealed inside his bedding. Following the seizure, the complainant informed his superior officers and lodged a complaint at the Barke police station.
