MLA urges CM to intervene to end strike by surveyors

Udupi: MLA Yashpal Suvarna has urged chief minister Siddaramaiah to take immediate action as the strike by licenced surveyors is causing public inconvenience. "Due to the ongoing strike by licenced surveyors for the past 40 days, revenue department-related activities have come to a halt, causing problems for the public. We urged state govt to take immediate action," the MLA said.Since licenced surveyors across the state have been on strike, many land-related activities, including surveying, land measurement, record corrections and account transfers, have stopped completely. This has put farmers, the poor, those taking loans for house construction and ordinary citizens in distress, he said.Around 6,000 licenced surveyors across the state, including 118 in Udupi district and 22 in Udupi taluk, are participating in the strike. The public is forced to visit offices daily. In Udupi district, over 1,000 land survey applications are pending, with more than 350 pending specifically in Udupi taluk, he noted."Farmers, those buying/selling land, individuals applying for heirship documents and beneficiaries of various schemes are experiencing financial and administrative difficulties. Therefore, this serious issue needs immediate attention.
