Mangalore University to honour best teachers with cash awards, citation tomorrow

As announced by vice chancellor K Byrappa in his maiden academic council meeting, Mangalore University will confer the best teacher award for the first time as part of teachers’ Day programme at the university on Friday.

MANGALORE: As announced by vice chancellor K Byrappa in his maiden academic council meeting, Mangalore University will confer the best teacher award for the first time as part of teachers’ Day programme at the university on Friday.
The award consists of Rs 25,000 cash and a citation and will be given in recognition of their significant contribution to teaching and research, registrar (administration) P S Yadapadithaya stated.

The university will felicitate K Chidananda Gowda, K A Suresh and Janaki Brahmawar, eminent persons from Dakshina Kannada, Kodagu and Udupi districts respectively, which also forms jurisdiction of the university, for their outstanding contribution to field of teaching and research. Gowda is former VC of Kuvempu University, Suresh, former director, Centre for Liquid Crystal Research, Bangalore and Janaki, president of Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy. Byrappa will preside over the function.
District level teachers award
Department of public instruction has announced names of 12 teachers for the Dakhshina Kannada district level best teacher’s award that will be conferred at the district level teachers’ day celebration to be held in Belthangady. While seven teachers will be recognised for their services in the primary section, the rest are from the high shool section, Walter D’Mello, deputy director, department of public instructions (administration) stated.

Sharada Devi K, head teacher, Government Higher Primary School (HPS), Pilimogaru, Bantwal taluk; Rathnakar Sherugar, physical education teacher, Vidyodaya Aided HPS, Venur, Belthangady taluk; K Kalavathi, head teacher, Vidyadayinee HPS, Iddya, Surathkal, Mangalore taluk; Ramadas K, head teacher, Government HPS, Bangambila zone, Mangalore; Jayaram Rao, head teacher, St Ingatius Aided HPS, Kadalkere, Moodbidri, Ambabai P D, head teacher, Government Upgraded HPS, Jayanagar, Sullia taluk and Devi Prasad, assistant teacher, Government HPS, Padumale, Puttur taluk are the awardees in the primary school section.
In the high school section, the awardees are K G Subrahmanya Bhat, assistant teacher, Government High School, Kepu, Bantwal taluk; Venkatesh Tulupule, assistant teacher, Government High School, Niddle, Belthangady taluk, Gunaje Ramachandra Bhat, assistant teacher, St Aloysius High School, Kodialbail, Mangalore; Jayaram Gowda, physical education teacher, Government PU College, Kumbra, Puttur; and Yashwanth Rai, head teacher, Sri Subrahmanyeshwara PU College, Subrahmanya, Sullia.
