MANGALURU: The Vittal police have arrested one person for allegedly giving a memory card containing pornographic video clippings to a minor girl.
The arrested person has been identified as Shameer. He is accused of giving the memory card to the girl while she was returning from school on October 15. The accused had asked her to check the memory card content using a mobile phone. However, the girl told her mother about the incident. Later, they found that the memory card contained pornographic video clippings in it.
Police said the accused had earlier given similar memory cards with porn videos to the minor girl’s classmates too. Vittal police have registered a case under Section 11 and 12 of the Pocso Act.
85-year-old hangs selfAn 85-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself at a house in Arthyadka in Nettanige Mudnoor of Puttur taluk on Thursday. The deceased is Chennamma.
She was staying in her son Yogish’s house. The complainant, Radhakrishna, another son of Chennamma, has stated in his complaint that he had received the information about their mother attempting suicide from his elder brother Rajendra.
Chennamma had allegedly attempted suicide by hanging herself using a nylon rope in Yogish’s house at Arthyadka. When the complainant reached Yogish’s house, he found his mother lying on the ground.
He was told that Yogish’s wife and a neighbour had released Chennamma from the noose. Radhakrishna and Yogish took their mother to the government hospital in Puttur. However, doctors declared Chennamma dead. Puttur rural police have registered an unnatural death report.
