Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada MP Brijesh Chowta said that Rs 25.1 crore has been released under the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM) for the district. An approval has been given to utilise Rs 24 crore out of Rs 25.1 crore for the construction of a critical care block at the Wenlock District Hospital, the MP stated, referring to a circular dated March 6, 2024, issued by the under secretary to the health and family welfare department.
The MP said an integrated public health lab (IPHL) at the hospital will be constructed at the Wenlock District Hospital at a cost of Rs 1.1 crore. The IPHL will be constructed on the second floor of the trauma care centre of the hospital. The tender process for the work has already been completed. A foundation stone ceremony will be held, and work will be started soon, he said.
"The central govt under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sanctioned funds to Dakshina Kannada with an aim to provide better health service by providing additional infrastructure," the MP said, expressing gratitude to the PM.
