MANGALORE: Clutter in your house could fund a child's education.
Make A Difference, the youth volunteer network that works with children living in shelter homes and orphanages, will be conducting a raddhi campaign for two weeks. The drive will start from next Monday in apartments and in a fortnight in schools. The objective is to raise funds for our MAD.
It will be conducted at schools wherein the school collecting highest amount of raddhi by the end of two weeks will be awarded with a trophy and the remaining collection is from hotels, pubs, apartments, libraries, hostels.
MAD was started in the city of Cochin, when a bunch of college students visited a shelter home and realized the need for quality education, for children at risk and that they deserve a fair shot at life.
Boomika Marla, marketing intern, MAD said: We will sell the raddhi collected to raddhiwalas and the money will be used to buy reading and writing material for children.
Anjali Rao, public relations fellow, MAD, in the five years of its existence, the Mangalore chapter of MAD has had around 148 youngsters enlisted with it and has been able to teach around 150-200 children.
