MANGALORE: Local police are yet to gain custody of Shabeer Bhatkal alias Shabeer Moulvi, a terror suspect brought by Dakshina Kannada police from Yerawada Jail in Pune on Saturday, to aid their investigation into the acts of terrorism allegedly planned here. The Judicial Magistrate First Class third court judge on Wednesday extended Shabeer's judicial custody by one more day citing technical reasons.

Shabeer was produced before the JMFC court here on Monday and Tuesday as well. Local police had moved an application before the court seeking his custody for 10 days. However, they have not been successful so far. Police following a trail of terror links had nabbed six persons at Mukkacherri near Ullal and in Pandeshwar area of the city in October last. They subsequently arrested two more accused in Koppa in Chikmagalur.
