UDUPI:
Sri Vidyasagara Thirtha swamiji, seer of Sri
Akki Muhurtham marks the collection and storage of rice from devotees. The paryaya mutt uses the rice to mass feed devotees during its Paryaya administration tenure of two years. The mutt makes necessary arrangements for the Paryaya with this important ritual to ensure that feeding devotees at Sri Krishna Mutt is a hassle free exercise with the Lord’s blessings. This is the second of the four pre-paryaya muhurtha rituals that is carried out.
Sri Vidyasagara Thirtha Swamiji averred that cooperation from other seven mutts is equally important for the successful conduct of the Paryaya. The swamiji assured that some of the schemes that his predecessors introduced will be continued during his term as head of the Paryaya Peeta. The swamiji had performed the ‘bale’ muhurtha on November 30 and will perform ‘kattige’ and ‘batta muhurthas’ in the coming 10 months.
Sri Vishwaprasanna Thirtha Swamiji of Sri Pejavar Mutt said this ritual has great meaning for it symbolizes the birth of new life and salvation. Incidentally, it was Sri Vadiraja swamiji who 600 years ago decided to give ‘Anna Prasadam’ to devotees by collecting and storing rice nine months before the paryaya, which every seer has followed systematically since. Devotees and Krishnapura mutt authorities took part in this event with devotion.
