Indian Open Surfing to be held from June 1-3

Mangaluru: The 4th edition of the three-day Indian Open of Surfing, the premier surfing competition of the Surfing Federation of India (SFI), the governing body for the sport in India, will see top surfers of the country compete for honours.
The event hosted by the Mantra Surfing Club, Mangaluru will see surfers like Sanjaikumar S, Nithishvarun T, Surya P, Ruban D, Srikanth D, Sathish Sarvanan and Manikandan Desappan at the Panambur Beach from June 1 to 3.
With eyes set on Paris 2024, where surfing will debut as a medal event, India for the very first time has sent a four-member team to ISA World Surfing Games 2023, El Salvador which is a qualifying event for the Paris 2024 Olympics. The top four Indian surfers, based on the ranking from last year will also be competing simultaneously for the Olympic qualifiers while top surfers in India will fight it out at Mangaluru, hoping to make it to the Indian team for other international events.
The event has got support from Karnataka tourism for the fourth consecutive year while Cycle Pure Agarbathies and Jai Hind Group have come on board as principal partners. “Our continued support to Indian Open Surfing and the Karnataka Surfing Festival, serves as a clarion call to the surfer community, urging every one of them to be catalysts of change and champions for environmental conservation,” said Arjun Ranga, managing partner, NR Group and MD of Cycle Pure Agarbathies.
“The promotion of surfing is also a way to empower local communities economically. From surf schools to equipment rentals, this sport can spur a range of local businesses, encouraging economic growth and infrastructure development in coastal areas,” said, Divya Kumar Jain, MD of Jai Hind Group.
Corporate houses like Rohan Corporation, Northern Sky, Novigo Solutions, Code Craft, Semnox and TT Group have joined hands with the SFI to extend their long-term support to the premier surfing competition.
