Hospital honours traffic police with health awareness drive

Mangaluru: On the occasion of World Health Day, Father Muller Medical College Hospital organised a special event for the Mangaluru Traffic police department as a token of appreciation and care for the guardians of the road on Wednesday.As part of the programme, awareness sessions were conducted on skin health, ear care and physiotherapy to promote physical well-being. The initiative recognised the demanding nature of the traffic police service, which involves long hours of duty amidst air pollution, noise pollution and other harsh environmental conditions.Approximately 250 police personnel participated in the event. The institution also felicitated and honoured them in acknowledgement of their commitment and dedicated service to society.DCP (crime and traffic) Ravi Shankar urged police personnel to devote time each day to maintain their health and well-being. He stressed the importance of simple activities such as walking, yoga, and stretching for a balanced life.Highlighting road safety concerns, he noted that out of 59 deaths caused by accidents, 29 occurred later during treatment in various hospitals. He stressed the importance of immediate shifting of accident victims to hospitals and ensuring timely treatment during the golden hour. He also underlined the need for strong coordination between traffic police and hospital emergency departments. FMCI director Fr Faustine Lucas Lobo commended the traffic personnel for their valuable service to road users and emphasised that the public must cultivate self-discipline and adhere to lane discipline to prevent accidents.
