Heritage Week celebrations begin

Mangaluru: The Heritage Week celebrations at the Old DC office were inaugurated on Saturday, with the ‘Echoes: A Heritage Festival Celebrating Mangaluru' being held on both Saturday and Sunday. Deputy commissioner Mullai Muhilan MP highlighted the 150-200-year history of the complex, emphasising that the event is a collective effort to showcase Mangaluru.
Students from Srinivas College of Architecture took the initiative to document the building's architecture, which led to the cleaning of the site. Various local organisations, including Intach, Art Kanara Trust, Kalladka Museum, and other institutions and organisations have collaborated to highlight Mangaluru's rich history, including the history of Tulunadu and the contribution of Basel Mission. Local talents have come together for this endeavour, the DC added.
The Dakshina Kannada district administration, in partnership with the tourism department and several organisations and associations, organised the event. Dakshina Kannada MP Capt Brijesh Chowta, ZP CEO Anandh K and others were present.
